Illiman +

Just been on the super-busy side lately. No posts in a minute! So my good friends at Illimanjaro just had their album release party this Friday night, it was a great time. I had the pleasure of being a part of their project, with the album cover design and the design of their Stomp and Howl movement tee's. Big-up's Chif on the artwork. Visit their myspace to hear their tunes: www.myspace.com/illimanjaromusic

Also, I had the chance to get my Super 8 footage back and add some music in there. It was shot all shot in one day, and was not edited. This is how it came out of the camera. Starting in Islip, looking across the bay to the lighthouse (hard to see online) and ending at the lighthouse. I think it came out pretty cool. Including surfers: Chif, Billy Smith, Chris Tomlin, Alex Fawess and a few others 10/25/09 was a good day:

Look out for more photos on the way, got about 6 rolls of 120 film that need to be scanned and uploaded.

Let the Holiday's begin! Hope everyone has a great season, I hope to see as many friends as possible, and have a happy, healthy holiday.

Sayville and Such

I am officially into my new place here in Sayville, and I'm loving it. Just skated down into town, hung at the Bunger shop down there with Sammy and a few others, had a little sesh on the rail. I got my third and fourth rolls of 120 developed from my Holga. I'm pretty happy with the results. These first four rolls have been a kinda test run, I'm hoping to get some more landscapes, and some surf, skate, snow stuff in the future. Keep on the lookout for that. I'm also waiting on two more rolls of Super 8 film to get back from being processed, super exited to see the results from those.

Other than that, had a great time at the Forum Snowboards video premier party in the city this past Friday night at the RedBull Space. Thanks to Junior and everyone over there for putting on a sick party!

Here's a few favorites from the last 2 rolls, they should link to the Flickr page this time...

Howdy Pilgrim

Just got my first two rolls of film from my Holga developed. I shot these on Fuji 400H color 120 film. I have to say the Holga is very easy to use and can produce some cool stuff. The one above and the next two were taken at the Pilgrim State Mental institution, which is now almost completely shut down. I went back a few days ago with my buddy Andrew, and will be expecting some more great shots from there soon. Click any image to see larger version in Flicker.
This is a 4-shot panorama I put together in Photoshop
Along with that news, we got our new catalogs in at work. It's been a pretty crazy last few (say 3-4) months. I think they came out pretty great. Check it out here:

Not to mention there's been some great waves in the past few weeks. It's not often we have swell three weekends in a row, but it's been better than average. Here's a shot taken of me during the tropical storm Danny swell by Kevin Mazur who is a celebrity photographer. His site is pretty cool, check that out as well: http://www.kevinmazurphotography.com

Supa Eight

I had shot a few rolls of Super 8 film a while back. They had been expired for about 10 years, so I wasn't really even expecting to see any results from them. This was shot at Special Sauce in the back parking lot one afternoon during some TV show shoot. I haven't had time to do any editing, maybe after I shoot a few more rolls I'll throw something together.

The song is by Nickodemus who has a new album out called Sun People, which you can listen to @ www.nickodemus.com  . This is the song "Sun Children" off that album. Be sure to check out the real video for the song on his website. He's been a local DJ here in NY for sometime, known for his Turntables on the Hudson sets, as well as traveling worldwide.

Lacrosse Recruits

I've never even played the game of Lacrosse, but I feel like part of the sport through association. For the past year or so I've been helping my buddies Chris Meade and Matt Wheeler with their venture LacrosseRecruits.com. I've been making web banners, actual banners, brochures, tee-shirts, all types of stuff for their year-old company which is doing quite well. It's really exciting to see two kids the same age as myself take the initiative straight out of college (Wesleyan graduates) and start a venture like this. Their site is an all-inclusive recruiting tool for high-school graduates to utilize on their way to the college level. They have the opportunity to upload video highlights which are fed directly to college coaches. It is a great advantage becoming a member of the LacrosseRecruits packages. College coaches have really embraced their program, which also makes their lives easier.

Chris and I grew up together on Fire Island, graduating together from Islip High School. Another part of the OBRAW collective that is taking over.

Click either the banner below or the text link above to check out their site.

I've got something to get excited about this weekend! My homeboy and fellow Fire Island native, Josh Ocean and fellow band mates will be rocking out in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot alongside bands like NOFX, Bayside, Bad Religion, etc. It's a pretty huge time for these guys and should be a sick show. Come down and show support for a local band that is blowing up! Get your tickets today!

The Bunger Year's - In Black and White

My buddies Jon and Terry at work were asking me recently if I knew anything about Bunger surf shop in Babylon, which made me remember that I had these photos down in my basement.

My first surfboard was an old,  beat up, retro 6'0" Bunger. It was given to me. After surfing for a few years, I found myself on the Bunger surf team. I had a great time with those guys. Growing up surfing with Chris Tomlin and Alex Fawess was a blast, and the Bunger family is classic.

When I was in school we had to do a photo-essay, so I went down to ole' warehouse to take some photos of Tommy and Charlie at work. Afterwards me and Tomlin headed down to demo to take some surf shots, showing the whole board-making/board-in-action kinda thing. He was doing shuv-it's on his fish, got a few turns in.

Here are those photos, along with one of me on a Bunger. I don't think any of them have seen these photos since I left for another shop soon after. I'll have to bring em down there one of these days.

MV Update / New Tross Shirts

I've been pretty sick the last few days, but I'm feeling a bit better now, enough to post a blog. (might even surf a little before work tomorrow, shhh) There's a lot goin on at MV Sport right now, we just finished our photo shoot, so it's time for me to get on that catalog design. Not the best time to be taking off a few days, but what can I do?
Also,  the new Albatross hoodies should be done tomorrow. Fingers are crossed, I know everyone over at the beach is waiting on those. Soon come. Big-ups to my boy Ade for the illustration skills on our collabo.

Here's a sneak-peek at a few of the catalog shots from this year's catalog. Pretty cool to be able to make the graphics, be part of the shoot, then layout the catalog. I'm liking it. The whole meeting the models part aint bad either.

The first five shots are from me creeping on the shoot, the rest are from the photog (props to Jim Lennon ;   http://www.jimlennon.com/  )  ...

That just happend!

Ok, ok. Here we go. I now officially have a blog. Expect nothing but big things when you visit this page. On the chain of command of online expressive-ness, a blog should contain the gem's. Facebook can hold every single picture I have, Twitter can get an update now and then, Myspace can pretty much get deleted, but I'll keep this for the exclusive stuff.

First real post to follow.
